Educational Leadership Program (ELP)
Our ELP program and curriculum equips participants with the tools, resources, language, and educational understanding of what it means to be actively involved in their community, while serving as a global citizen. This program equips participants with the tools, resources, language, and personal understanding of the importance of prioritizing their mental and emotional wellness.

- Youth & Professional led sessions/workshops include themes of:
- Racial Justice, Mental, Emotional, Physical, and Financial Health & Wellness, Self Care
- Implement learning into a Research Project
Our ELP program runs 3 to 4 Saturday’s a month, for 3 hours each educational session over the course of 10 months within a calendar year. These educational sessions are led by youth leaders and professionals in the field.
Our goal
Our ELP program and curriculum seeks to equip participants with the
tools, resources, language, and educational understanding of what it means to be
actively involved in their community, civically engaged; while serving as a global
citizen. This program equips participants with the tools, resources, language, and
personal understanding of the importance of prioritizing their health and wellness
How do we meet our goal
- We provide but not limited to 36 educational sessions throughout the course of the
year, every year that a youth leader participates. - We meet 3 Saturday’s a month, for 3 hours per educational session. That’s a minimum of 100 educational hours they invest during the year.
- During these educational sessions, youth leaders are leading and facilitating our
learning on themes that involve; racial and social injustice, systematic racism,
systematic oppression and more. - When youth leaders are not leading our sessions, the sessions are led by professionals, who facilitate conversations that align with our curriculum and provide perspective to what the youth have been discussing.
- We provide 10-15 interactive hands on health & wellness activities during the course
of the year; promoting, affirming and encouraging their self care habits/routine. - Youth leaders end their year with a portfolio that consists of research and learning.
The value of this program
- Youth leaders become more civically engaged and are more consciously aware of
the importance - Youth leaders become social and racial justice advocates for a most just world
- Youth leaders become more self aware, self assured, self confident
- Youth leaders begin to lead with and practice ubuntu
- Youth leaders see the value of global citizenship; they serve as a global citizen
- Youth leaders strengthen skills such as; public speaking, facilitation, analytical/critical thinking skills, research skills
- They produce 4 to 5 years of portfolio work
- They develop a strong college application/post high school resume
- They receive tuition to Brown University Pre-College Program, where they can earn
college credits; a full semester worth before they graduate high school. - Participants create and begin implementing healthier self care practices for
supporting their health and wellness.
